Okay, yes it's winter and I don't need the Spot II for motorcycle riding. However, there are more uses than that.
I bought this at REI online for $149 and there is a $50 rebate. So the final unit price is $99.
I also have to activate it and purchase the Spot Service Plan. That is $99.99 annually for the Basic Plan. Add on Tracking ($49.99) the ability for SOS/911 ($12.95), we are up to $162.93 a year.
Not bad though, considering I enjoy more of the back roads for riding. I found on my first trip, I was driving winding roads, away from population, in the rain. There was also no cell service.
